Governor issues “Stay at Home” order. We will continue feeding kids.
As you may have heard, Governor Cooper issued an executive order for all North Carolinians to stay at home for the next 30 days beginning Monday, March 30. The only exception to this executive order is for people who are deemed “essential employees.” They may report to work. You can access the Governor’s frequently asked questions document to see if you are considered an essential worker.
Our outstanding nutrition staff, who has been working hard to deliver thousands of meals to families, is considered to be “essential.” It is essential that we feed any child 18 years or younger who is in need of breakfast and/or lunch during the school closure. Therefore, there will be no change to our Grab-n-Go meal service that is currently providing meals at 60 locations.
With that said, any employee who is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or who has been in contact with anyone who has symptoms of COVID-19 should NOT report to work. Our staff is also abiding by CDC recommendations for the workplace and is taking the necessary precautions with food safety.
We hope that everyone has a safe, healthy, and socially-distanced weekend! Thank you for a great first week of At-Home Learning. Please enjoy these resources on our new website:
